I am skin obsessed. If it promises to reduce lines, fight the size of aging and add elasticity, I AM ON IT. Sometimes though, I like to know what is in my products, and a quick look into the kitchen cabinet often reveals a ton of great ingredients for making a skin nourishing and PH balancing skin mask. I like to look at ingredients that hydrate the skin, and reduce inflammation, like puffiness around the eyes. One of my favorite ingredients to fighting puffiness is Castor Oil. (My acupuncturist told me castor oil is actually in some parts of the world given to people with glaucoma since it is proven to demolish scar tissue and tissue build up.) It is a very potent oil, and should be placed in the fridge cold. This is not the same castor oil to be used internally, this is external use only, and a small amount is fine. For this mask I recommend using 1 tablespoon of castor oil. Mix this mask up and keep in your refrigerator. The mask should last about 2 weeks. I recommend using 3 nights a week and then sleep with a hydrating mask afterwards.
1 egg white
1/2 of grapefruit, squeeze the juice out. (This acts as an acid/astringent, good for deep cleaning pores)
1/2 cup of oatmeal
1 Tablespoon of honey
1/2 Tablespoon castor oil
(Since it is summer and if you have sun damage, throw in some zinc powder or something like that to soothe the skin)
Throw in a food processor and blend with water, filtered or distilled is preferable. (COLD) about 1 cup, or check mixture, sometimes it depends, you want it sort of thick, not runny. Blend on smoothie setting for 1 minute and 30 seconds. If you have age spots, adding some licorice tincture for skin brightening also works.
Once blended, apply mixture to skin for about 10 minutes and then wash off thoroughly with warm water on a washcloth. Then apply a night evening hydrating sleep cream and your skin will look stunning! PS, honey is good at removing pimples too! Literally removes them in one night!
