Even on holiday I am trying to stay in shape and keep my training up, even if it is for 30 mins in the gym, you will feel tight toned and energized for the day just doing 30 minutes of exercise. One of the biggest questions I get asked is, “how do I maintain my figure after 3 children?” Well as easily as possible! I think my first words to my trainer we’re, ” I hate to sweat …” Since then I have really changed the way I eat and how I train. Here are some changes I have made to my diet:
- Red meat (hard to digest and my system is slow)
- Dairy which makes me lethargic
- Raw foods which bloat me
- Refined sugar that makes me fat!
Now I know it sounds like everything but I really notice how good I feel without these foods in my diet, so for me it’s worth it to forgo eating them.
On holiday it’s easy to maintain my routine if I start the day with hot water and lemon. For breakfast I will have wheat free pancakes with honey or goat milk yogurt and granola. For lunch, something like red snapper and vegetables steamed with olive oil and salt is completely yummy! For dinner I recommend eating something like brown rice and fish or chicken. You’d be amazed at how easy it is to make these dishes and how delicious and satisfying they are.
In the gym I do interval training which gets my heart rate up and puts me at the optimum to burn fat. I start on a treadmill for 10 mins high incline and select a speed fast enough to run. Then I grab a big workout ball and focus on my abs (for me my hardest area). Place your feet on top of the ball and in a gentle controlled movement drop your knees from side to side slowly engage all of your stomach muscles. Then keeping your feet on top of the ball, touch each ankle 20 times! Lastly with your feet still on top of the ball, put them into frog position and lift your bottom high! This will tone both your tummy and your bum! And repeat 3 times….
Finish this workout by jumping back on the treadmill for a final 5 to 10 mins and then you’re done …
Simple on holiday and not going to kill you to do and muscles retain their memory xxxx
