You know that saying, “You are what you eat.” I am coming around more and more to believe this quote. As many of you know I traveled to a detox center to learn about clean eating and cleansing the body of toxins that accelerate aging, and illnesses caused by bad foods. One of the takeaways: our skin, hair, and overall health is dramatically influenced by the way we eat.
So many of you are curious about what I eat and this is a smoothie recipe I highly recommend you try. As you know getting in good foods can be a challenge when you are a working mum on the run (Don’t I know it!).
1 head of organic kale
1 organic fuji apple
1 organic head of cilantro ( I personally do not care for cilantro, so I do not make my smoothie with this herb, but it is a terrific cleansing herb for fresh breath, like mint! So for folks who do not mind cilantro, please add it!)
1 organic lemon
(if you really want to clean the liver and support the immune system, please add some ginger, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon or organic local honey. Honey is so important for killing the bacteria in the gut, bacteria that causes allergies, inflammation and yeast!)
I recommend throwing into a blender, with about 8 ounces of chilled coconut water. Blend on smoothie setting for a good 1 minute. If you like your smoothie thicker, go ahead and add 2-3 ice cubes. Blend and enjoy! And only consume cold. I find once it starts to lose its chill, it really is not as crisp and delicious!
